In this regard, I share below some issues that will help you to define and design your online store in the most optimized and accurate way:

  • Product Tree: organize the “n” products you want to put on sale in a simple and very user-friendly way. Simplifies visitor navigation and helps make shopping more intuitive.
  • Content by product: bet on having quality information about the product. Good photographs, a simple and clear description, technical information (whenever it makes sense), ... The clarity and quality in detail will lead to the confidence that the visitor needs to complete the online purchase.
  • Customer Support Pages: there is some texts that should not be careless. Some are mandatory by law in Portugal (Shipping, Returns, Terms and Conditions, ...) others simply help the customer and give a sense of security at the time of purchase (FAQs, Testimonials, ...).
  • Integration with Online Chat: integration with an online chat (eg LiveChat, Messenger, ...) allows you to be closer to the customer, allows you to follow up with them, answer questions in real time, ... and this will help you to achieve the purchase.
  • Transport costs: when defining the business it is important to know how much it costs and how you can get your products to those who buy them. The choice and negotiation with the carriers (ex .: CTT, DHL, ...) will help you to better define the price and, thus, the margins of each sale.
  • Payment systems: when choosing payment methods (eg RedUnicre, PayPal, Stripe, Amazon Pay, ...) it is important to keep in mind that the easier the payment process is, the more sales you will have. Still, it is crucial to study each platform and confirm what percentage each charge per sale. This theme has a direct impact on the margins of your business.
  • Integration with email marketing systems: take advantage of contacts from customers or visitors who, in one way or another, accept to receive information from your company, through an integration with an email marketing system (ex .: E-goi, Mailchimp, ...), helps to enhance communication and not only reach more people but also be top of mind of those who have already shown interest in your products.

I believe that these points will help you get the maximum return on the investment you want to make in an online store.

Good luck!
