To improve this answer a little, we can make a small analogy with the cinema. When we talk about a movie, we immediately think of a sequence of scenes, with music and interaction that in the end gives us an emotional response. But when we talk about making a movie, we are faced with a number of other things, which are necessary to arrive at a final product. Cinematography, script, photography, soundtrack, direction, production, sets, wardrobe, cast, special effects, sound effects and so on… All this together makes a movie.

Basically UX Design is a process that describes a series of steps that we have to do to create, especially in digital projects, a good user experience. Without going into too much detail, we can list some stages of the process to get an idea of the steps that lead us to the final product:

  1. Define the brand attributes that help us understand your positioning in the market and how we can tell your story;
  2. Define the users profile and understand what solutions they are looking for. By creating personas we can better understand what their potential problems are and how we can present them with solutions;
  3. Define priorities in the information architecture of what we need to communicate;
  4. Analyse the various personas and create a structure of our website that makes sense for the information we intend to communicate to them;
  5. Wireframes that allow us to idealize a path;
  6. Model and materialize all ideas in a design that conveys the brand identity in a visually appealing way, through the use of visual design and typography;
  7. Construction and development with a focus on functionality, usability and user interaction;
  8. Final testing and tuning to ensure everything is ready to go live.

All the small steps help to tell a story directed to our user. If all goes well, you will create an emotional response to warrant action at the end of your interaction.

Just as when we watch a movie we don't think about all the small details that make it a reality, we certainly don't think about all the small steps that make a website, but the truth is that without a good UX Design it wouldn't be the same!
