The Interview Diaries: 10 questions with Afonso

Softway is made up of people, so we thought we'd let you know another side of our team.

You already know that we make websites, that we're creative, innovative and technologically rigorous, ... now we want you to get to know us not only for what we do, but also for who we are, and so we decided to venture into this new format, where we interview each other, without filters.

The Interview Diaries: 10 questions with Afonso
Share

Today we present Afonso, who joined us as a Junior Full Stack Developer a year ago. He's known for his surprising (even for him!!) snooker shots and for his full lunchtime meals (he's soup, main course and fruit!). He likes to work with objectives, to contribute his opinion and to test different ways of doing his job without fear.

We already know him, but we've asked him 10 questions so that our readers can get to know him better:

Are you ready?
Yes, do I also have to give my name and age to be registered? All that's missing is the light on my face! Ahaha

1. If you could swap positions with someone at Softway for a day, who would it be and why?
No-one. Why would I do that? Because I love the work I do.

That means you're in the right place!

2. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?
If I'd been asked that question a long time ago, I'd answer flying. Ever since I was little, I thought it would be cool. Today I answer teleportation. I could teleport anywhere in the world. I'd use it for travelling, for example, it would be so much simpler! The money and time saved...! Even on a day-to-day basis, you'd save a lot of time travelling.

Work on it, so I can use it too!!!

3. What's your favourite office snack, and do you have a secret place to keep it?
Belgian biscuits! As soon as they arrive, I hide a box in the drawer and lock it, because I've had them arrive one day and the next day, when I went to pick up the first packet, there was only one box left and there were four or six! It was Vasco, of course!

4. What's your favourite karaoke song?
I have two: "Fly me to the moon" by Frank Sinatra or "Homem do Leme" by Xutos e Pontapés. I've had an inside joke with my cousin for many years now. Whenever we're both alone in the car, we play this song at full volume and sing along.

5. What was the last addictive series or film you watched?
Suits.I'm still watching it.I'm loving it, I'm watching it with Rita (my girlfriend), and we're both loving it.The series is incredible!

6. A book you recommend...
I haven't read much in my life, it's not my favourite thing to do, but at school I had a Portuguese teacher who made me read a lot... so my recommendations are from that time. One of the books is very interesting, by Jorge Amado, "Os capitães da Areia".The other is a more adventurous book by Isabel Allende called "The City of the Wild Gods".

7. What do you like to do to relax after a day's work?
I like to go home, watch my series or play my game.

8. If you were given a week's all-expenses-paid holiday tomorrow, which place would you choose?
Japan! I'd go for a fortnight if I could, but if I was offered... I'd appreciate the second week... because a week to see Japan is too little!

9. Imagine you were suddenly given the chance to be an expert in any field, what would it be and why?
Music. I'd love to pick up an instrument and be able to learn to play very quickly.
And do you play any instruments?I play guitar.I have an electric guitar and a classical guitar.

10.Who is your favourite comedian?
Portuguese, Ricardo Araújo Pereira.International, Ricky Gervais.

Thank You!

We hope these questions have helped you get to know one of the people who make up our team.
