The Interview Diaries: 10 Questions with Pedro

Pedro is our Senior Web Designer and has been part of the team for several years. He has accustomed us to his characteristic noises and cat memes he finds on social media, besides never refusing a babybel cheese. He is a funny and curious person, and you'll be able to tell that through this interview.

  1. If you could switch roles with someone at Softway for a day, who would it be and why?
With Pimenta [laughter], well, I can't anymore because Vasco already switched [laughter]. Seriously, I don't know. I don't think I would switch with anyone because what I do is exactly what I've always wanted to do. It's a pleasure, even though it's work, it's something I really enjoy doing. It's what I saw myself doing from a young age, and over the years, I've realized it's the right path because it's what I love.
  2. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and how would you use it?
Opacity 99%, to become slightly transparent [laughter]. I don't know, I don't really pay much attention to superpowers, actually.
  3. What's your go-to karaoke song?
"Na Cabana" by José Cid. The last time I sang this song was at a karaoke in Cascais, and it was spectacular because there was a girl crying while singing along [laughter].
  4. If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to yourself?
Past Pedro... it's funny because sometimes in HTML code, I leave notes from Past Pedro to Future Pedro - for example, to say what I did, like messages for the future. For Past Pedro, I would say to buy bitcoin [laughter]. I don't think I would give life advice to my past self because then I wouldn't be myself. I would end up influencing the path that brought me to where I am today.
  5. What do you like to do to relax after a day of work?
Have a glass of wine [laughter]. Lately, that's what I've been doing, I don't have much time for anything else. I used to play with my band, had rehearsals, and it was great, then I tried to find the solution of going to the gym, which is good, but it's more for health reasons than to relax.
  6. Imagine suddenly being given the opportunity to be an expert in any field, what would it be and why?
If I could suddenly be an expert in aerospace engineering and work with everything related to it, that would be interesting.
  7. Who is your favorite comedian?
The one I've found funniest lately is Ricky Gervais because he's completely outspoken and doesn't care what people might say.
  8. If you could have dinner with any historical figure, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
Einstein, because he looks just like me physically when we were younger. There's a photograph of him that looks just like me, so I thought it would be funny to have dinner with him, besides, of course, he's a genius, so it would be really interesting for conversation.
  9. If you were the ruler of your country, what would be the first law you would implement?
So many things concern me in the state of Portugal that it's hard for me to point out just one thing that could solve everything. If I could only solve one problem, I would solve the healthcare problem in every possible way. A robust and functional national health service that responds quickly to people.
  10. Wich book do you recommend?
During a phase of my life, I read a lot of "The Dharma Bums" by Jack Kerouac, which is basically a spiritual journey of the author meeting himself through Buddhism, ... I found it very interesting.

We hope this interview has helped you get to know Completo, as we call him in the office, a little better. Any team is made up of people, and we like to reinforce and demonstrate that through these interviews. We thank Pedro for this interview and hope our readers have enjoyed getting to know him as much as we have.
